Which Big L song do you think is better?

Big L had some mad sick punchlines on both songs.

But what do you think?

Tough call. They're both great songs, and I think they're equal in terms of quality, but on any given day I'd probably choose All Black. I always prefer songs that feature only Big L, and All Black is more of a battle rap song, whereas Danger Zone is a straight up horrocore song, sort of a companion piece to Devil's Son. And I really love Big L's closing rant on All Black, where he tells his enemies to get their funeral suits ready.

Yeah I'd probably tend to go with All Black for the reasons stated. It's a solo song and the end speech is classic and hilarious.

This is a great question because All Black and Danger Zone are two of the most comparable Big L songs. I just listened to both back to back, and although I still think All Black is a better song, I also think that Big L's lyrics are better on Danger Zone.

"My swole knob your main girl col' slobbed and gave a blow job to my whole mob with no prob."

That's brilliant writing, and I don't know if any rhymes on All Black can fuck with that.

Yeah I considered that in my analysis as well, it is a close call and I've compared them in the past. I still think All Black is a better put together song, the more original and cohesive sounding of the two and that's part of what makes it better overall but I'd agree that it'd be tough to beat Danger Zone on strictly a lyrical level, if you wanna look at it like that. Altogether All Black is just slightly more classic L (beatwise and everything) according to my personal bias / opinion. Though of course both those tracks on one album is just simply unstoppable.

Ok which line in Danger Zone do you think is better?

"I got styles you can't copy b****, it's the triple six
In the mix, straight from h-e-double-hockey sticks"

"I keep a cutie with a soft booty, h*** be runnin up
"can I get your autograph l? " no b****, I'm off duty"

I love these lines.

I love these lines.

I've always liked the h-e-double hockey sticks line better.

Hell yeah, and back to back no less. Classic! There's no question that the beat and flow of All Black is superior, but I'm still unsure which song contains the best lyrics. I sorta broke it down below with my own humble opinions, and both songs tied:

Yo once again it's the Big L, that kid who got much props,
from killin' corrupt cops, with muthafuckin' buck shots.

The microphone is through when this rap legend grab it,
sendin' punks to heaven, faggots, stickin' hoes like Reverend Swaggart.

Danger Zone 1; All Black 0

So don't step to this, 'cause I got a live crew,
you might be kinda big but they make coffins yo' size too.

L's the nigga that crime follows,
I'm hittin' fine models and stabbin' punks with broken wine bottles.

Danger Zone 2; All Black 0

I was taught wise; I'm known to extort guys,
this ain't Cali, it's Harlem nigga we do walk bys.

I beat chumps 'til they head splits, then break 'em like breadsticks,
I sex chicks; I'll even fuck a dead bitch.

All Black 1; Danger Zone 2

No one can match me, tax me or wax me,
if you want me to write you some raps g, just ask me.
'cause on the shelf is where your LP col' stood,
because it was no good, that shit ain't even go wood.

Always sprayin' tecs because I be stayin' vexed,
some nigga named Dex was in the projects layin' threats.
I jumped out the Lincoln, left him stinkin',
put his brains in the street,
now you can see what he was just thinkin'.

Danger Zone 3; All Black 1

Me bein' a virgin, that's idiotic,
'cause if Big L got the AIDS every cutie in the city got it.

I'm chokin' enemies 'til they start turnin' pale,
Satan said I'm learnin' well, Big L is gonna burn in hell.

All Black 2; Danger Zone 3

Once a nigga tried to stick me for six gs
and I put more holes in his ass than swiss cheese.

Front and get scarred 'cause your rap style ain't even hard,
I run with a thievin' squad and none of us believe in God.

All Black 3; Danger Zone 3

I steal lives like a stone thief, so leave me alone chief,
or catch a buck shot to your dome piece.

I got styles you can't copy bitch, it's the triple six,
in the mix, straight from H-E-double hockey sticks.

Danger Zone 4; All Black 3

I must warn, I got it goin' on, word is bond,
ducks be gettin' thrown off platforms like P.M. Dawn.

Every Sunday, a nun lay from my gun spray,
fuck Carlito, we doin' shit the Devil Son's way.

Danger Zone 5; All Black 3

I'm catchin' bodies like a villain's supposed to
and I squeeze triggers, not just on niggas but hoes too.

Every minute my style switches up,
they said a real man won't hit a girl,
well I ain't real 'cause I beat bitches up.

Danger Zone 6; All Black 3

So don't try to test me, 'cause I can't stand testers,
fuck around, I'll introduce you to your ancestors.

I use words that's ill, L got nerves of steel,
I'm cool, but every now and then I get a urge to kill.

All Black 4; Danger Zone 6

Step to this and get left with a face full of tears pal,
my man you've been rappin' for years now
and ain't made a hit yet, you flop in a split sec,
in the shower's the only time you get your dick wet.

I'm takin' lives for a great price,
I'm the type to snap in heaven with a mac eleven and rape Christ.

All Black 5; Danger Zone 6

I roll with scary crews, I come out of wars barely bruised,
I'm puttin' muthafuckers on the Daily News.

And I'm fast to put a cap in a fag chest,
the Big L's mad stressed, 'cause hell is my address.

Danger Zone 7; All Black 5

I was a gangsta from the get go,
leavin' fags in body bags with tags on they big toe.

I'm on some satanic shit, strictly,
little kids be wakin' up cryin', yellin', "Mommy Big L is comin' to get me."

Danger Zone 8; All Black 5

Yo ever since I was young, I ripped mics and I killed beats
and I'm known to milk freaks and hit 'em on silk sheets.

I keep a cutie with a soft booty,
hoes be runnin' up, "Can I get your autograph L?"
no bitch, I'm off duty.

All Black 6; Danger Zone 8

No dame can give me a bad name, I got mad fame,
I'm quick to put a slug in a fag brain.

I'm breakin' hotty hearts, niggas drop when my shotty sparks,
it ain't no food in my fridge, just body parts.

Danger Zone 9; All Black 6

I be placin' snitches inside lakes and ditches
and if I catch AIDS, then I'm a start rapin' bitches.

I keep the gear fresh; I keep the braids rugged,
I never wear rubbers bitch, if I get A.I.D.S., fuck it!

All Black 7; Danger Zone 9

I'm all about makin' papes kid,
I killed my mother with a shovel just like Norman Bates did.

A beef with me, you better prevent it 'cause in a minute,
I'll jump out a tinted rented and leave a nigga body dented.

All Black 8; Danger Zone 9

My old man in the past, stuck me up without a mask,
then his ass col' dashed with my cash fast.

And my swole knob your main girl col' slobbed
then gave a blow job to my whole mob with no prob'.

Danger Zone 10; All Black 8

Fifty gs is what the creep stole; so the next day,
knocked on his door and shot his granny through the peephole.

Ayyo crazy bitches slept with L,
then they niggas got mad and tried to step to L.

All Black 9; Danger Zone 10

That's the type of shit I'm on, word is bond,
got it goin' on, from the break of dawn to the early morn'.
You know my style, I'm wild, comin' straight out of Harlem pal,
It's Big L, the muthafuckin' Problem Child.

But I'm sicker than a nigga that's in special ed,
so I suggest you spread pretzel head,
'fore I turn your white sweat suit red.

I Just listend to Both
I gotta put it like this

L's songs shouldn't be compared
Heres why, no matter what L spits (Especially on Lifestylez) its going to be worth repeating. So when I try to compare his songs, I can't choose one line over another. They are all unique to the song. Its like comparing Put it On to Devils son, they are both unique and are hard to compare you kno?
But say L did two versions of a song with the same message. Then id be ready to compare.

This is probaly the closest you'll ever come to having two comparable Big L songs with the same message. Both songs contain battle rap and horrorcore lyrics (All Black leans more towards battle rap and Danger Zone leans more towards horrorcore). Both songs were recorded at the same time, they both appear on the same album, and they come back to back. No other two Big L songs are more comparable, except maybe The Heist and Casualities of a Dice Game. But Dice Game would surely win that contest, just like All Black wins this one.

Its close but I got to say Dangerzone, it just reminds me of that interview where he says he wrote the horrorcore stuff when he was heated. and it just sounds like L is going all out on this one, "i keep the braids rugged, I never wear rubbers bitch if i get aids fuck it" and "i sex chicks i would even fuck a dead bitch"

The song is just straight horrorcore and thats what L was known for but both songs are classic its just that dangerzone is more Big L doing what he does best.

One of the hardest dilemmas on my entire iPod.
I like the ruggedness of All Black and yet Danger Zone is so stone COLD.
Thugs better skat when the gat go click-clack/Or imma have your family dressed in all black.
